Trend intact, price back at the average. How it works.
The Pullback to MA scanner identifies stocks that are in a defined uptrend — trading above their 50-day moving average — and have recently pulled back toward that level on declining volume. This type of setup reflects a temporary reduction in buying pressure rather than a trend reversal, and the 50-day moving average acts as a natural support level where buyers have historically re-entered.
The Pullback % shows how far the stock has retraced from its recent high. A tight pullback (less than 5%) indicates minimal selling pressure and a high degree of trend integrity. A mid pullback (5–8%) is still within acceptable range. A deep pullback (more than 8%) suggests more significant selling and requires additional confirmation before considering an entry.
The % from MA50 field shows how far above the 50-day moving average the stock is currently trading. A reading close to 0% means the stock is near or testing the MA50 as support — the most actionable zone for this setup. The RS 3M field shows the stock's price performance over the past three months relative to its starting price — a positive reading confirms the stock was in an uptrend before the pullback began.
The Vol Ratio compares current volume to the 20-day average. A ratio below 1x during the pullback is a positive sign — it indicates that selling is occurring on lower-than-average volume, which is characteristic of a healthy, controlled retracement rather than distribution.
