Insider Trades

The Insider Trades scanner tracks SEC Form 4 filings — the mandatory disclosures that corporate insiders (executives, directors, and major shareholders) must file when they buy or sell shares of their own company. These transactions are reported within two business days of execution and are publicly available through the SEC's EDGAR database.

The most meaningful signal here is a large insider buy — particularly one made by a CEO, CFO, or major shareholder. When an executive spends hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars of their own money purchasing shares on the open market, it signals strong conviction in the company's prospects. Insider selling is more ambiguous — executives sell shares for many reasons including tax planning, diversification, or exercising options, and does not necessarily indicate negative sentiment.

Use the Min Value filter to focus on the most significant transactions. The $1M+ filter shows only the largest insider buys — these are the highest-conviction signals. The Buys Only filter removes all insider sales, focusing attention on accumulation activity. Cluster buying — multiple insiders buying the same stock around the same time — is an even stronger signal and is tracked separately in the Insider Cluster scanner.
