A stock must be above its 50-day, 150-day, and 200-day moving averages. The 200-day must be trending higher. The 50-day must be above the 200-day. And the stock's relative strength must be in the top quartile of the market.
Every condition must be met simultaneously. A stock that passes on four out of five criteria does not appear. This strictness is intentional — the Trend Template is not a list of interesting stocks. It is a list of stocks that are technically ready for a high-probability momentum trade.
Think of the Trend Template as your daily universe filter. Every morning, run the scanner and use the resulting list as the pool from which you select trades. Any setup — VCP, bull flag, pullback to MA — is more likely to work when the underlying stock passes the Trend Template.
