Relative Strength Leaders Scanner

The Relative Strength Leaders scanner ranks every stock in the U.S. equity universe by how much it is outperforming the S&P 500 over 3 and 6 months. The stocks at the top of this list are the ones institutions are buying consistently — not just for a day, but across multiple timeframes.

Why Relative Strength Matters

In any bull market, a small number of stocks account for the majority of gains. These leaders share one characteristic — they outperform the index from the beginning of their move, not just on peak days. Relative strength measures exactly that: how a stock performs versus the benchmark over time.

The RS score on this scanner is calculated against SPY over 3 and 6 months. Stocks with high scores across both timeframes have demonstrated sustained outperformance — the hallmark of genuine institutional sponsorship.

  • RS score calculated versus SPY over 3 and 6 months
  • Covers the full U.S. equity universe — 1,500+ stocks
  • Filters for minimum price and average daily volume
  • Sorted by composite RS score descending

How to Use It

The RS Leaders scanner is best used as a universe filter — not a buy signal in itself. A stock with an RS score above 90 is in the top 10% of the market. That tells you the trend is real and institutional. What it does not tell you is the entry point.

Combine RS Leaders with the VCP, Pullback to MA, or Bull Flag scanners to find high-RS stocks that are also in a buyable technical setup. That combination — strong RS plus a tight base or pullback — is the foundation of most high-probability momentum trades.
