Breakouts Happen: Built for Swing Traders and Day Traders

This website was built to answer one fundamental question: "Is today a good day to be in the market?"

For swing traders and day traders, timing is everything. You can be right about a market move, but if your entry is off, the trade can go against you, stop you out, and then rocket higher without you.

Even the most perfect breakout setup can fail if the market's line of least resistance is working against your position. When that happens, most breakouts fail — and traders accumulate a string of small losses that, over time, erode both capital and confidence.

The entry is the most critical element of any trade. Most traders are too eager to pull the trigger. Every great trader in history — from Jesse Livermore to Mark Minervini, Qullamaggie, Pradeep Bonde and others — has emphasized that timing is decisive. Price needs to move in your favor immediately, especially because stop losses are typically kept very tight (2%–7%). If a stock starts fading right after entry, the timing was probably wrong and your stop will get hit.

You can have flawless technical analysis, but without proper market timing the trade has little chance of success. In many cases, the best move is to stay in cash and wait. Nobody said you have to be in the market every day. In fact, the greatest traders are in the market only a handful of times per year, with very few positions at once — typically 3 to 5 stocks, with a maximum of 10 to 12 positions at any given time.

How to Use Breakouts Happen

To help traders choose the right moment to enter a position, we built a proprietary system based on statistics, probability, and market internals.

Through a single numeric indicator — the BH Momentum Score — we integrate multiple market factors: breadth, volume, momentum, sentiment, and current conditions. This single number gives you an immediate read on the market and tells you whether the line of least resistance is working in your favor.

Beyond signaling statistically favorable days, the Momentum Score helps traders control two silent enemies: FOMO and overtrading — both responsible for the death-by-a-thousand-cuts that quietly destroys accounts over time.

Breakouts Happen is the answer — a clean, fast platform that tells you, on a single page, whether today is statistically a good day to be in the market and what win rate you can reasonably expect on breakout setups. We wanted it to be accessible to everyone, with an optional premium subscription at a minimal cost for traders who want deeper data and advanced features.

The Traders Who Inspired Us

Jesse Livermore — for his concept of the line of least resistance, market timing, and the discipline to act only when the odds are clearly in your favor. Livermore himself argued that in any given year there are perhaps four or five ideal moments to trade — the rest is waiting and studying the market.

Toby Crabel — for his work on Opening Range Breakout strategies and early breakout entries in the first minutes of the session, when the setup is valid and market timing is favorable.

Mark Minervini — for his study of the Volatility Contraction Pattern (VCP) — the compression of price and volume that precedes major expansions. Mark is widely regarded as the greatest living trader: author of exceptional books, a remarkable educator, and his posts on X are genuine trading lessons.

Pradeep Bonde (Stockbee) — for the concept of Momentum Burst, the 3-to-5-day breakout move, his outstanding work on the Market Monitor, and his deep understanding of the psychological and operational mistakes traders make. Pradeep developed the Episodic Pivot, theorized the 9-million-volume stock move, and many other setups that are foundational for serious traders.

Kristjan Kullamägi (Qullamaggie) — for developing the Episodic Pivot concept and his approach to high-momentum breakouts. Kristjan has done remarkable free educational work on his website and YouTube channel.
